It is one thing to offer computers, books, self-taught courses, and local tutors, but when we had the opportunity to move into the more intense teaching programs offered by IBM, we blinked and let the opportunity pass for 2008.

IBM offered us a chance to use their Reading Companion software to help increase the reading levels of our residents. You should know we were interested in the grant, because it was usually beyond our ability to buy the service. We had too few volunteers to run the program.
